Baby Steps
Lately Ellie and I have been making some huge steps in adjusting to life as “Stay at home Mom” and baby. Well actually, the steps we’ve been taking have been towards not staying at home. When I was pregnant I thought often about how great it would be once the baby came and we could go out together, taking walks, getting coffee, and meeting up with friends. Once we were actually home though, I came to the startling realization that babies are very unpredictable. Eleanor, being the great baby that she is does not often cry, and eats roughly every two hours. However, even with an awesome baby, two hours doesn’t buy you much time to feed the baby, pack up the car, drive somewhere, do something, drive home, and then unpack the car before the baby eats again.
So this week, when we tackled costco, the post office, the grocery store, a tennis match, a trip to visit Ben at a design firm, and a visit to Steele Canyon, it really felt like a triumph. We were even able to sneak in a trip to Starbucks. To some of you, this may seem trivial. Really, what’s the big deal? But to me, it was very satisfying to be a “getting out of the house” mom.
